Netbooks are mainstream laptops are compared since last two & half years, because of its little lacking performance due to its single core processors. Netbooks also consumes less  power with its atom processors, allows production houses to create great netbooks like EeePC, Wind, Hp mini, Dell mini & many more which works for more than 9 hours.

Netbooks also comes at very low price & fulfilling the gap between the size & features of Laptop & Smartphone. But these perofmrance issues are now all set to get away with Intel’s new Atom N550 processor. This new dual core processor  have 1.5 GHz clock speed & DDR3 memory will be and added benefit for improved speed.

This new processor is specifically targeted for netbooks, which consumes less power & delivers performance for longer time. It is expected to give performance as good as mainstream laptops.

This Monday Asus, Lenovo, Acer & LG announced the upcoming launch of their netbooks with this dual core Atom N550 processors. And other giants like Dell, HP, Toshiba & MSI are also expected to announce their respective netbooks with dual core processors soon.

Netbooks used to ship mostly with XP and Windows 7, from past few months we have seen many netbooks getting shipped with linuxes like Ubuntu netbook remix & jolicould. This could also helping consumers to get reduced cost of their netbooks.

Also some of the techxperts said the launch of ipad could be a netbook killer, but figures says its totally wrong. iPad is a great product, but most of the netbooks are selling at very less price & more features. And it can also perform all the tasks that an iPad can. Second noticing fact is Apple products are mostly targeted for US consumers, netbooks doesn’t have such restrictions. Netbooks are used widely by other countries like India & China, where large volume of consumers for netbook makers. So netbook thing can never be killed by anything like tablet or iPad.

Talking about this new ATOM N550 processor, when we actually use things running on it then only it can be truly compared to mainstream laptops. So we have to wait a little bit for this netbook & notebook fight. Following chart will be more useful for netbook processor’s comparison.
